Speech Language Pathologist – NICU
(Acute Care)
Acute Care Rehab Department is looking for top an experienced NICU Speech Language Pathologist to help build the Speech Therapy Program in that area. Is that you?
Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas TX 75231
Work hours: Part-time/24 hours per week
· Four 6-hour days Tuesday-Friday. Flex off 1 weekday / month to cover 1 weekend day per month.
Speech Language Pathologist – Acute Care NICU Department highlights:

- Supportive environment with mentoring from experienced team with multiple certifications including: Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders doing pediatric FEEs and MBSs and 3 OT Neonatal Certified Specialists.
- Staff – led process improvement teams dedicated to high quality, evidence-based care.
- Texas Health Dallas is a Level 1 Trauma Center and DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level 3 NICU
Here’s What You Need
· Master’s Degree: Speech Language Pathology required or
· Post-Baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech Language Hearing Association required.
· SLP – Speech Language Pathology – Texas Speech Language Pathology License required or
· SLP-I – Speech Language Pathology Intern; Texas Speech Language Pathology License upon hire required
· SLP – Speech Language Pathology; Texas Speech Language Pathology License upon hire preferred and
· Certified Neonatal Therapist credential strongly preferred
· BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
Essential Functions:
Performs age-appropriate patient treatment:
· Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
· Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.
· Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely.
· Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary.
· Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment).
· Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self management and assistive equipment.
· Maintains patient safety throughout treatment.
· Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues.
· Demonstrates competence in the performance of age appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.
· Motivates non-compliant or unmotivated patients to participate in therapy.
