Qualifications
Here’s What You Need:
Education
· High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
· Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or Related Field Preferred.
Experience
· 4 years of Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or Related Field Required.
· 2 years of TCIC/NCIC Terminal Experience Required.
· Supervisory experience Preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
· DL – Driver’s License Upon Hire Required And
· TLETS – Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication Systems Certification Upon Hire Required And
· Intermediary TLETS Certification Upon Hire Preferred And
· TCOLE – Basic Telecommunications Proficiency Certification 12 Months Required
Skills
· Must pass extensive background investigation.
· Must pass pre-employment psychological exam.
· Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
· Must accurately type 40 words per minute.
· Must be able to demonstrate multi-tasking abilities.
· Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of personal computers.
· Must be able to demonstrate ability to think clearly and act effectively in emergency situations.
· Must be able to effectively use telephone headset and telephone receiver.
· Must have an ability to maintain professional and courteous communications.
· Must have effective written and oral communication skills.
· Must be able to make sound judgements based on training received
· Must remain calm and demonstrate ability to effectively respond in stressful and/or high-pressure emergency situations.
· Must interact with public and fellow employees in a tactful and diplomatic manner.
· Must be able to work flexible and rotating shifts to include nights and weekends and holidays.
· Must be able to perform other duties as directed by Manager.
What You Will Do:
· Provides direction to team members to manage all police and security communications and dispatch activities and emerging issues that occur on shift. Uses professional judgment to assess immediate risks to the safety and security of employees, patients, and visitors. Escalates concerns to Manage of Police & Security Communications in a timely manner.
· Collaborates with the Manager of Police & Security Communications and Program Manager, Security Operations Center to develop and update associated policy, procedures, and work standards. Provides input to enterprise-wide communications policy and protocol development. Represents the Communications Team in meetings with department and organizational leaders and vendors. Works independently and with teams to develop business and process strategies. Develops and informs department leaders of opportunities to improve the Communications Team, technology, department processes, and resource utilization.
· Works with the Communications Team and leadership to develop and mature the capabilities of the Communications Team. Those capabilities include but are not limited to: Emergency communications. Understanding and use of communications technologies. Effective use of computer-aided dispatch and electronic reporting tools.
· Establishes, monitors, tracks metrics and key performance indicators for weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews. Represents the Communications Team on relevant committees and working groups.
· Establishes, monitors, tracks metrics and key performance indicators for weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews. Represents the Communications Team on relevant committees and working groups. Manages the activities and provides leadership directions to staff within the group. Develops, deploys, and maintains a single Communications Team knowledge management resource.
· Designs and directs the team’s workflow. Resolves team-related complaints and concerns. Promptly identifies and communicates deficiencies regarding incident support/communications, equipment failures, life safety, and business continuity concerns to appropriate leaders.
o Supervise daily dispatch activities in support of the Manager of Police & Security Communications
o Provide guidance to dispatchers
o Immediate point of contact for escalation for incidents occurring during shifts
o Scheduling, covering call-offs
o Timecards management
o Tracks time and attendance
o Monitoring communications (radio/phones), ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
o Quality assurance tracking
o Conduct interviews
o Represents dispatch in meetings
o Notification to the Manager of Police & Security Communications on all personnel and operational issues
o Assist Manager of Police & Security Communications with SOP development and implementation, training and process improvement initiatives
o Member of interview/selection process
o Maintains a positive working relationship with dispatchers and staff outside the department
o Stays abreast of the latest developments and trends in the police and security fields.
