  • Work location: Texas Health Southwest, 6100 Harris Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76132
  • Mother friendly designated, a Texas 10-Step designated, and a Magnet designated facility
  • Work hours: PRN, Minimum of 1 shift every other week, 8-hour shifts, 8:30AM-5:00PM, as well as filling in as needed to cover

Here’s What You Need

·        Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program OR Nursing Diploma

·        BSN is preferred

·        One-year (1) Year Experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) or completion of an RN residency program, or a THR residency program Required

·        One year of Lactation or Neonatal ICU/NICU RN experience strongly preferred

·        BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required

·        NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days

·        CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Required

·        IBCLC – International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant within 2 Years Required (strongly prefer certification upon hire)

·        A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

 

What You Will Do

        Both inpatient and outpatient services – working with both Maternal/Newborn and NICU patients

        Functions as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians

        Serves as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence

        Produces documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care

        Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care

        Reviews patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.

        Assesses outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems

        Participates in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
