Lead Clinical Laboratory Assistant

Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, Texas 75231
Work hours: Full-Time Days – 7:00am-3:30pm.

Here’s What You Need
· High School Diploma or Equivalent REQUIRED
· Associate’s degree preferred
o Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
· PBT(ASCP) – Phlebotomy Technician upon hire preferred.
· Three years’ experience in a medical setting REQUIRED
· Customer Service experience highly preferred
What You Will Do
- · Follows laboratory procedures for handling unacceptable specimens
· Resolves pending specimen issues
· Coordinates timed, routine, ASAP and STAT draws to prevent multiple sticks to the patient and to prevent excessive blood volume draws.
· Participates in orientation and training of new employees and students
· Attend continuing education seminars, webinars, reads articles or otherwise demonstrates continuing education related to profession equal to 6 hours.
· Participates in system, entity or departmental performance improvement activities, internal laboratory committees, professional organizations or hospital sponsored community service activities.
· Test results communicated as directed by fax or phone report
· Emails read and responded to in a timely manner
· Accountability demonstrated for information contained in emails
· Communicates appropriately to supervisors regarding issues
· Proper phone etiquette observed
· Computer downtime procedures utilized as needed
· Maintenance on centrifuges, refrigerators, etc performed as assigned
· Restock supplies before and after shift
· Notify supervisor when supplies are low
· Performs assigned daily/weekly/monthly maintenance
