- High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
- Associate Degree Related field (preferred)
- ARDMS – American Registry for Diagnostic and Medical Sonographers or RDCS – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Upon Hire (required) or
- RCS – Registered Cardiac Sonographer Upon Hire (required)
- Possess an excellent working knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary anatomy/pathology, the cardiac patient, and treatment of cardiac diseases
- Excellent communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Registered Echo Sonographer Process
- Will produce two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of heart and related structures, using ultrasound equipment, for use by physician in diagnosis of heart disease and study of heart.
- Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed.
- Calculates, measures, and documents appropriate values on the tests performed for review and interpretation by physicians.
- Explains procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxieties of patient.
- May perform therapeutic procedures.
- Enters patient information into computer database to record information on video cassette and strip printout of test.
- Reviews test results with interpreting physician.
- Communicates with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical conditions while undergoing echocardiogram.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
