Registered Nurse RN – LVAD Program Coordinator

Here’s What You Need 

• BSN required
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
• 3-years LVAD program coordinator OR
• 3-years heart failure, chest pain, or structural heart coordinator OR
• 3-years CVICU RN caring for LVAD patients required
• Will consider RN with Cath Lab experience – minimum 3-years preferred

What You Will Do 

• Participates in activities for the achievement and maintenance of participation in the LVAD program
• Demonstrated involvement of LVAD Subcommittee Steering Committee in overseeing coordinated care of the patient.
• Functions as facilitator for LVAD and other Advanced Heart Failure related initiatives
• Provides expert direction to nursing staff resulting in quality nursing practice and serves as a role model by working closely with physicians, administration, nursing and support staff to ensure coordination of care for LVAD and Advanced Heart Failure patients.
• Develops and revises orders for the LVAD patients in conjunction with physicians and nursing staff
• Prepares patients for day of clinic, follows patient during hospital stay, and follows up with patients at appropriate intervals post LVAD implantation. 
• Ensures streamline care from clinic, to hospital, and back to clinic are managed efficiently. 
• Provides patient navigation from referral to LVAD implant.
• Represent the program at conferences, professional meetings, etc. 
• Participates in hospital initiatives (i.e. fund raising events and community events) 
• Serves on hospital and system based committees as appropriate
