What You Need

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • Medical Staff Coordinator Certification is preferred as either a Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
  • (2) years of medical staff credentialing experience is required.
  • (6) years of hospital medical staff or credentialing experience is highly preferred.
  • (6 to 7) years of credentialing experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Ability to function in a demanding environment with frequent interruptions is required for success in this role.
  • Ability to navigate multiple projects simultaneously and effectively support a busy Medical Staff Office.
  • Ability to interface with physicians, advanced practice professionals, medical staff leaders, hospital management and administration in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, openly and effectively, both orally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize work daily.
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions and effectively communicate.
  • Ability to work productively within a team.
  • Ability to independently resolve problems, make decisions, and negotiate issues as needed.
  • Dedicated to the highest quality in all aspects of your work.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.

 

In addition to the qualifications an experienced Medical Staff Coordinator/Credentialing Coordinator will possess the following skills.  These sills are highly preferred.

  • Experience with credentialing database (MSOW / Verity would be a plus).
  • Knowledge of medical credentialing and privileging procedures and standards.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work extra hours during peak workloads and deadlines.
  • Adaptability and dealing effectively with change and acclimating /adjusting to a dynamic environment.
  • Be accountable for your performance.

What You Will Do

  • Utilize and maintain the credentialing database with accurate data entry, maintain integrity of data, optimize efficiency, and perform queries, reports, and document generation.
  • Perform review and detailed analysis, identify, and follow up of “red flag” items that require additional investigation and evaluation, validate discrepancies, and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  •  Prepare credentials file for completion and presentation to the Division Chief and Medial Staff Committees, ensuring file completion within a strict deadlines. Schedule, coordinate, prepare agendas, takes minutes, provide follow up for medical staff committees outlined in the entity Medical Staff Bylaws. 
  • Interpret and understand federal, state, local, and government/insurance agency regulations and guidelines, as well as Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all data and information.
