Work hours: Full Time, 40 Hours, Monday – Friday, 8a-5p

Qualifications

         Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required

         3+ years clinical experience  in acute care setting required

         3 +years risk management, quality management, legal or patient safety preferred

         Other appropriate clinical licensure for discipline upon hire required (RN)

         CPHR – Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management upon hire preferred

         Leadership experience preferred

         Ability to analyze, interpret and manage information

         Proficient in Excel, Power point, MS Teams, RL reporting tool, CMS Reporting and One Recall preferred

 

What You’ll Do

In addition to the required qualifications, a successful Risk Manager will  analyze, interpret and manage information and communicate with various professional and regulatory customers. Must be self-directed, independent and goal oriented. Knowledge about data collection and reporting required.

         Familiarity with clinical risk management concepts, practices and procedures in an acute health care setting.

         Promote patient satisfaction and reduce the likelihood of litigation.

         Ability to document and respond to patient and family complaints.

         Demonstrate ability to reduce liability claims, sentinel events, near misses, and the overall cost of the organization’s risk.

         Ability to report and present information to hospital leaders/executive team on quantifiable and actionable data.

         Promote open and spontaneous dialogue about risk.

         Promote a safe, just culture.

         Documenting, classifying, tracking possible risks and adverse events, and protocols for mandatory reporting.

         Respond to reported risks and events including acute response, follow-up, reporting, and repeat failure prevention.

         Utilize the reliability learning tool (including actual events, near misses, and general safety concerns) and recognizes and addresses patient safety/risk exposures affecting the quality of care and outcomes. Make medical staff quality review referrals as appropriate. Utilize statistical and other methods to aggregate, analyze and prepare data reports for presentation.

         Facilitate the Risk Management Program including identification, analysis, planning and implementation focusing on events which resulted or could have resulted in adverse risk or a compromise to patient or environmental safety. Actively engage in the Patient Safety Program developing effective medical error reduction strategies and tools. Work in collaboration with hospital departments and committees to implement identified needs for improvement. Serve as risk management representative for committees within the Continuous Quality/Patient Safety and Risk Management programs.
