Here’s What You Need

  • Nursing Diploma Nursing is required or
  • Associate’s Degree Nursing is required or
  • Bachelor’s Degree Nursing is preferred
  • 1 Year Experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting. is required
  • 2 Years Experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting. is preferred
  • RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire is required And
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Upon Hire is required And
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days is required And
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days is required And
  • NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days is required And
  • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support 90 Days is required or
  • ENPC – Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course 6 Months is required And
  • TNCC – Trauma Nursing Core Course 12 Months is required
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

  • The Charge Nurse role will communicate and collaborate with all members of the health care team. Valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion is a key strategy of teamwork at Texas Health.

  • This role directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed. Individuals in this role will demonstrate:
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking – Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Patient Safety – Knowledge of and experience with tools, techniques and practices for ensuring a safe and harm-free environment for patients; ability to recognize risks and take steps to minimize them.
