Lactation Consultant RN – Part-time, Days

Maternal Level IV designated facility is looking for top skilled Lactation Consultant nurses.  Is that you?

 

  • Work location: Texas Health Ft. Worth, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76104
  • The Women’s Center at Texas Health Ft. Worth, a MAGNET, and Texas 10-Step facility, has been named “Best Place to Have a Baby” and Maternal Level IV designated facility
  • Work hours: Part-time: 24 hours/week, between the hours of 9:00AM – 5:30PM, 3 x 8-hour shifts, schedule varies, weekends and holidays required

Lactation Services highlights:

  • Self-Scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth
  • Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
  • 27-bed Maternal/Newborn unit
  • 63-bed Level III Neonatal ICU/NICU unit
  • Average between 275 to 300 + deliveries per month
  • Utilize the following skills: Breastfeeding education/resources, responsible for both mom and baby (Couplet Care)

Here’s What You Need

·        Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program OR (RN) Nursing Diploma Required

·        BSN is preferred

·        One-year experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) experience or completion of an RN Residency program required.

·        One year of Lactation Consultant RN experience strongly preferred

·        RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire is Required

·        BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required.

·        NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days Required

·        IBCLC – International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants within 12 months is Required.

·        Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do

Delivers Lactation Services to patients

·        Functions as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians. Serves as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence

·        Produces documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care.

·        Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care

·        Reviews patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.

·        Assesses outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems

·        Participates in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
