Here’s What You Need

  •  Bachelors Degree in Healthcare related field discipline, management information systems, or business administration.

·         5 Years Healthcare environment in an operations role, with strong preference for experience in health information management or medical business office. Required.

·         1 Year Prior experience in auditing/monitoring access to information in clinical applications. Preferred. 

What You Will Do

·         Analyze and review reports on user access to health information in THRs electronic health record application per THRs privacy and security policies and procedures.

·         Perform periodic risk assessments across user groups to identify high risk areas for privacy breach within the electronic health record.

·         Prepare an annual audit work plan to include both focused audits for identified high risk areas and random audit of access across user populations.

·         Identify resources necessary to carry out the annual work plan as additional THR entities implement the electronic health record.

·         Perform periodic and planned audits of access to THR patient medical records to validate that only those persons who have a treatment relationship or other need to know have accessed the patient’s electronic health record.

·         Investigate, document, and follow-up as needed on privacy incidents identified through the audit. Conduct special audits of access to electronic record in response to patient complaints, as needed.

·         Prepare reports for THR management on privacy audits and findings including compliance with THR policies, identified privacy breaches, if any. Reports will be disseminated to THR Privacy Officer, Entity Privacy Officers, THR management and appropriate committees.

·         Review reports and cases to identify trends that may indicate inappropriate access outside THR policies.

·         Identify additional reports that may be needed from the electronic health record operating system (CareConnect) to identify breaches and/or provide data necessary to develop focused audits.

·         Participate in presentations to committees and management, as needed.  
Assist the THR Privacy Officer as needed in follow-up and corrective actions in response to other identified privacy incidents.

·         Assist the THR Privacy Officer with the privacy monitoring program as needed.

·         Support THRs Information Security program as needed to ensure coordination of activities and alignment between privacy and security.

·         General resource as needed to THR Information Security Officer on initiatives relating to the privacy of PHI contained in the electronic health record (CareConnect).
