Willow Park celebrates 5-year anniversary

Like a healthy 5-year-old, Texas Health Neighborhood Care & Wellness Willow Park has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years.

“Over the past five years we have seen our volume triple as we continue to grow and expand at a much higher rate than expected,” said Sal Jamal, administrator of Texas Health Willow Park, a department of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.

From 2015 to 2019, Emergency Department visits increased by almost 45 percent, cardiac rehab patient visits increased by 55 percent, occupational and physical therapy patient visits increased by 36 percent and the number of advanced imaging patient visits grew by 100 percent.

“This is a great example of the purpose and ability we have as a health system to provide a service to our patients close to home, by providing care when they need it and where they need it,” Sal said. “And we have the ability to transfer to other Texas Health locations when a higher level of care is needed, making available the robust services of our entire system the moment someone steps foot on our campus.”

Located about 20 miles west of Fort Worth, Texas Health Willow Park serves residents of Parker County including Weatherford, Aledo, Hudson Oaks and Annetta. Services include an emergency room, lab and advanced imaging services, along with cardiac rehab and physical therapy.

“Our medical office building is currently fully occupied, with specialties including cardiology, orthopedics and podiatry, as well as outpatient behavioral health, primary care and general surgery,” Sal said.

Texas Health Willow Park employs almost 100 caregivers and support staff, in addition to a team of volunteers who help patients and visitors feel at home.

The five-year anniversary celebration kicked off Jan. 18 with Texas Health Willow Park’s annual Winter RUNderland 1K and 5K family event.

“It was the perfect way for us to unite the community in a healthy way and celebrate the past five years of service,” Sal said.

A portion of the race proceeds are dedicated to advancing health and well-being initiatives in Parker County.

“We are proud to support the health and well-being of the communities we serve by providing the health care needs of Parker County, including many educational offerings such as chronic disease management and diabetes education,” he added.

The fitness center has also become a popular feature for local residents. It now has more than 1,800 active members.

“Fitness and well-being are foundations of good health,” said Jessica Hamilton, fitness center manager at Texas Health Willow Park, “and a clear priority in this community.”
