Third Texas Health RISE Cohort Begins Work

The fall 2023 class of Texas Health RISE (Readying Inspiring Individuals with Skills to promote Equity) – the program developed to support the system’s diverse, inclusive workforce in learning leadership capabilities that support the communities we serve – has begun.

A selection committee reviewed more than 100 applications and selected 40 individuals from across Texas Health to participate in this year’s cohort.

“RISE has firmly established itself as a vital piece of Texas Health’s diversity, equity, and inclusion journey,” said Carla Dawson, chief people officer. “We are grateful for the excitement this program has created within our employees and for the tremendous support of our leadership teams.”

Participants will come together over the next four months to learn about important topics such as belonging in the workplace; consumer-focused innovation and culturally competent care; racial equity and health disparities; and public policy and community engagement, all through the lens of diversity, equity and inclusion. RISE is a collaboration between the Government and Community Affairs and People and Culture teams.

“This is one of many ways we are permeating Texas Health and our communities with a culture of inclusion and belonging,” said David Tesmer, chief community and public policy officer.

Congratulations to the members of the fall 2023 class!
