Texas Health Arlington Memorial Earns Second Magnet Designation
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has recognized Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital for the second time as a Magnet® hospital – the most prestigious designation honoring nursing services. In addition to receiving re-designation, the hospital also received two exemplars for exemplary professional practice related to RN satisfaction and stroke education.
There are 490 hospitals worldwide and only 45 in Texas that have received Magnet® status. The designation recognizes health care organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in the nursing practice. Four other wholly owned Texas Health hospitals – Texas Health Plano, Texas Health Fort Worth, Texas Health Dallas and Texas Health Southwest – are also Magnet®recognized hospitals.
“I am so proud of the dedication and excellence of our nurses at Texas Health Arlington Memorial,” said Joan Clark, D.N.P., R.N., NEA-BC, CENP, FACHE, FAAN, executive vice president and Texas Health chief nurse executive. “From Final Salute ceremonies and an innovative partnership with the Arlington Fire Department to efforts to reduce contaminated blood cultures and excess days, Texas Health Arlington Memorial nurses are committed to providing safe, reliable care and an exceptional consumer experience.”
Just as the program name implies, a Magnet®-designated hospital is recognized for its “magnetic” nursing environment where nurses and clinical staff work collaboratively within a positive culture that supports new ideas and evidence-based work practices. Although Magnet® is a program designed for the recognition of nurses, the entire interdisciplinary care team plays a valuable part in attaining the Magnet®designation.
“I am so grateful for our nursing staff, ancillary staff, physicians on the medical staff and community members for their commitment to the Magnet® Journey,” said Lori Donovan, R.N., M.S.N., CNOR, NEA-BC, chief nursing officer. “A Magnet® designation shows that we have one of the best nursing teams in the country, and it is a great blessing to be a part of that team.”
For consumers, having a Magnet®-designated hospital nearby means that when care is needed, they can expect a safe and quality experience every time. Consumers have come to rely on Magnet® designation as the ultimate credential for high quality nursing, according to ANCC.
Congratulations to Texas Health Arlington Memorial!
