Texas Health Azle embraces wellness

Employees at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle recently celebrated the opening of a walking path on campus.

The 0.6-mile loop starts near the hospital’s main entrance and has signage that includes a QR code that links to a map of the route.

The launch event included healthy snacks, stainless-steel water bottles and running belts for participants, along with information about the Be Healthy program.

The hospital also launched Wellness Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., a weekly opportunity for employees to take a 15-minute break for a free exercise session doing Pilates, yoga, stretching or aerobic exercise.

“Part of Our Texas Health Promise is to care for ourselves and each other,” said Tonya Sosebee, M.S.N., R.N., NEA-BC, president and chief nursing officer at Texas Health Azle. “We hope that as employees spread the word, more people will take the opportunity to enjoy the walking path or stagger their lunches so they can participate in the Wellness Wednesday fitness sessions.”
