From string art and a video to a quilt and a cake, Texas Health nurses showed off their creative skills at the annual Professional Practice Model Art Contest. Each hospital selected a piece of artwork to enter in the systemwide contest during Nurses Week. The artwork was on display May 10 at Nursing Congress.
The following were selected as systemwide winners:
- First place – Texas Health Allen’s quilt
- Second place – Texas Health Fort Worth’s cake
- Third place – Texas Health Southwest’s string art
The award-winning quilt features the Professional Practice Model in the center surrounded by Joanne Duffy’s eight Caring Factors. A number of Texas Health Allen departments designed quilt blocks that are also featured in the piece. The quilt was created under the leadership of Lucy Bird, M.S.N., R.N., ACNO, Texas Health Allen, with Terri Lytle, R.N., creating the design, organizing the quilt construction and completing much of the quilting. In addition, Delores Martin, R.N., and Susan Pollan, R.N., assisted with creating the quilt.
