The second cohort of Texas Health R.I.S.E. gathered Friday, Sept. 9, for a four-hour orientation, kicking off targeted diversity, equity and inclusion training sessions aimed at building diverse leadership.
“We live in one of the fastest-growing regions in the country,” CEO Barclay Berdan told the group. “The North Texas population is becoming more diverse, as is our own Texas Health workforce. We are committed to developing a leadership pipeline that represents and reflects the diverse communities we serve.”
Texas Health R.I.S.E. (Readying Inspiring leaders with Skills to promote Equity), is a key component of the system’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative. A committee selected the 33 participants from more than 60 applicants.

The program consists of leadership training sessions, a community service project and exposure to important diversity, equity and inclusion learning opportunities from internal and external subject matter experts, executives, academic experts and civic engagement thought leaders.
Graduation is scheduled for December.
The program is a collaboration between Government and Community Affairs and People and Culture teams.
