What do you enjoy most about working at Texas Health?  I love knowing that when I hire someone, I not only am assisting them in reaching their goals, it also makes an impact on the care given to our patients.

What would you tell someone that is considering Texas Health as a future employer?  Texas Health is an amazing place to work. We are an innovative company that prides itself in hiring top talent that is engaged in ensuring patient care is of the highest quality.

Do you have a tip to share for individuals applying with Texas Health?  Ensure that your resume is complete with education, certifications and dates and job titles of your past jobs. Your resume is a sneak peek into your work history for recruiters.

Let’s talk Work Life balance. How do you disconnect and what do you do for fun?  Besides spending time spoiling my granddaughter, I love baking and decorating cakes. I recently found this skill and have found that it is something that de-stresses me.

What is something unique about you that most people don’t know?  I am a mentor to individuals that have been newly injured with a Spinal Cord Injury. I suffered a spinal cord injury when I was 22 years old and felt like it was time for me to give back to this community. I have played wheelchair basketball, rugby and recently went wheelchair skate boarding. My goal in mentoring is to teach individuals although they have had a life altering injury, they can continue to do the things they love to do, just from a different angle. Life as they know it isn’t over, it’s just different.

Do you have a favorite quote? Or book? I have two: “All things work together for the good to those that love the Lord” (Romans 8:28) and “When you can’t find the sunshine, be the sunshine”—Unknown

What is the best way for a nursing professional to connect with you?  The best way to reach me is carolevans@texashealth.org
