Leadership Cohort Begins Work

The Texas Health R.I.S.E. Leadership Cohort gathered virtually for a four-hour orientation on Friday, Jan. 28, kicking off sessions of targeted diversity training aimed at building an inclusive and diverse leadership pipeline.

“Our goal is to equip you with new tools to be inspiring leaders who will further Texas Health’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts,” CEO Barclay Berdan told the group via a video. “As you work together the next few months, your insights and energy will lay the foundation for future R.I.S.E. participants. Your involvement and contributions will impact Texas Health for years to come as you strengthen our diverse and inclusive workplace.”

R.I.S.E. (Readying Inspiring leaders with Skills to promote Equity) is a key component of the system’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative. The 25 participants were chosen from 150 applicants for the pilot, which officially began Friday.

The program will consist of five leadership training sessions, a community service project, and exposure to important diversity, equity and inclusion learning opportunities from internal and external subject matter experts, executives, academic experts and civic engagement thought leaders.

Graduation is scheduled for early May.

The pilot is a collaboration between Community Engagement and Advocacy, and People and Culture teams.
