Julie Balluck named CNO at Texas Health HEB

Message from Kirk King, Hospital Channel chief operating officer, Fraser Hay, president, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford and Jim Parobek, interim president, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas

We are pleased to announce that Julie Balluck, M.S.N., R.N., NEA-BC, has been named chief nursing officer at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, effective Feb. 16.

She is moving from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, where she served as interim chief nursing officer in 2019. Julie began her career at Texas Health Dallas as a staff nurse in 1999 and rose through the ranks to become director of surgical services from 2010 to 2017, and she became associate chief nursing officer in 2015.

She has planned and overseen significant facility construction projects including a perioperative services expansion, and renovation of the sixth-floor medical-surgical unit at Texas Health Dallas. Julie also has advanced and grown strategic initiatives, including planning for the hospital’s fourth American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet designation in 2020, and overseeing market growth for service lines including orthopedics, trauma, heart and vascular, neurosciences, surgical services and women’s and infants.

Julie improved the consumer experience by increasing patient experience scores for two inpatient post-surgical departments from 55th percentile to 80+ percentile (one of highest in the hospital) in less than 2 years. She also oversaw consistent year-over-year ambulatory surgery patient experience scores within threshold or above.

She completed her honors in nursing diploma at Sheridan College School of Nursing in Mississauga, Ontario, her bachelor of science in nursing at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario, and master of science in nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is currently enrolled in the doctor of nursing practice (administration) program at the University of Texas Health Sciences program in Houston.

Julie lives in Dallas with her husband, Terry, and their three boys ages 5, 11 and 12. The family stays busy attending the boys’ activities including academic competitions, lacrosse and soccer. The Ballucks also like to travel and camp at state parks, and make a drive to Canada — where Julie is from — every summer.

Please join us in congratulating Julie on her new role.
