Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery is an 18-bed physician-owned hospital serving the people of Collin, Dallas and Denton counties. The hospital is an award-winning facility that offers a wide range of services including robotic surgery, spine surgery, joint replacement surgery, orthopedic surgery, gynecological surgery, urological surgery, ENT surgery as well as spinal injections, outpatient GI procedures and advanced imaging studies.

Description

This position is completely responsible and accountable for the Plant Operations/Engineering functions on a given hospital campus, including, but not limited to, efficiency of day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, energy management, financial management, staff efficiency and productivity, and quality of services delivered. 

  


Job Description

DEPARTMENTAL OPERATIONS – Organize and delegate activities as required for the safe, efficient and effective operation of the department including active participation with other hospital and leadership staff to accomplish this objective. Develop and oversees the implementation of policies, procedures, and standards that direct department operations as required for service, verify that standards are consistent with regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements. Actively incorporate measures to obtain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements. Identify and utilize processes and resources that support optimal delivery of data and information to leadership team and staff.

LEADERSHIP/ACCOUNTABILITY – Promote the professional image in demeanor, appearance, attitude and behaviors. Establish collegial relationships with physicians, unit personnel and administration. Integrate team building strategies and principles of group process in iteration with staff.

QUALITY – Collaborate with all customer groups (patients, department/hospital staff, physicians and other customer groups), to meet and exceed needs / expectations. Create and maintain a collaborative work environment (patients, physicians and key stakeholders. Use benchmark data from internal and external sources to identify opportunities for improvement of care and patient safety. Identify key performance indicators that need to be monitored and evaluated.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY – Prepare and manage the operating and capital budgets for the department in collaboration with the department management and staff, determine the appropriate number and level of staff, balancing competency, patient needs, patient outcomes, patient safety outcomes and productivity guidelines.

HUMAN RESOURCES/STAFF MANAGEMENT – Oversee and manage the effectiveness of the department recruitment and retention program, taking action as necessary to provide an adequate level of qualified staff. Promote professional growth, development and accountability in staff, students and colleagues. Track and evaluate staff performance and individual development, holding staff accountable for achieving service expectations.

 

 

 


Education
H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s Degree Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred

Experience
5 years progressive leadership experience in facilities management with emphasis on healthcare including full knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements of plant operations in a healthcare environment is required with a Bachelor’s degree. Or, 9 years is required with a high school diploma.

Licenses and Certifications
DL – Drivers License required upon hire
CHFM – Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager preferred upon hire

Skills
Creative, strategic thinker with high ethical standards and professional image. Advanced technological skills, analytical ability, good judgment, with a strong operational background in an advanced facilities management setting. Team player, articulate, able to relate to people at all levels. Good educator willing to share information and conflict resolution skills. Knowledge of Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Practices. Strong knowledge of Industry Regulations and Standards – ASHE, TJC, OSHA, TDSHS, ASHRAE, HIPPA.
