Risk Manager

In this visible and critical role, you will have the opportunity to support the hospital risk management program, including all regulatory compliance activities.  You will serve as a risk management representative for committees within the Continuous Quality/Patient Safety and Risk Management programs.  You will serve as a resource and subject matter expert to all employees and will provide education and training in all aspects of risk management, patient safety and high reliability.  Texas Health has a high reporting culture that fosters a just and transparent work environment. What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or related healthcare field is required.  BSN is highly preferred.
  • Three (3) years clinical experience is required. (RN)
  • Three (3) Years Risk Management, Quality Management, Legal or Patient Safety is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, MS Word and Outlook highly preferred.
  • Appropriate clinical licensure for discipline is required upon hire (RN).
  • RN is highly preferred upon hire. 
  • CPHRM – Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management or CPPS Certified Professional in Patient Safety is preferred upon hire.

For Success:

  • Familiarity with clinical risk management concepts, practices and procedures in an acute health care setting.
  • Ongoing and in-service training, annual review and competency validation, and event-specific training.
  • Promote patient satisfaction and reduce the likelihood of litigation.
  • Ability to document and respond to patient and family complaints.
  • Demonstrate ability to reduce liability claims, sentinel events, near misses, and the overall cost of the organization’s risk.
  • Ability to report on quantifiable and actionable data.
  • Promote open and spontaneous dialogue about risk and with whom.
  • Promote a safe, just culture.
  • Documenting, classifying, tracking possible risks and adverse events, and protocols for mandatory reporting.
  • Respond to reported risks and events including acute response, follow-up, reporting, and repeat failure prevention.

What You’ll Do

         ·         Utilizes the reliability learning tool (including actual events, near misses, and general safety concerns) and recognizes and addresses patient safety/risk exposures affecting the quality of care and outcomes.

         ·         Utilizes statistical and other methods to aggregate, analyze and prepare data reports for presentation.

         ·         Facilitates the Risk Management Program including identification, analysis, planning and implementation focusing on events which resulted or could have resulted in adverse risk or a compromise to patient or environmental safety.
