Job Duties

Pharmacy Operations
Responsible for the provision of optimal pharmaceutical care through development, implementation and support of clinical services including integration into distributive operations.

Human Resources
Administration of select personnel logistics such as ensuring thorough training and competency of pharmacist staff, providing performance feedback routinely for direct reports, participating in talent selection as well as disciplinary processes, etc.
Ensure that policies relating to hiring, competencies, scheduling, payroll, separation and other workplace functions are disseminated to staff and compliance is maintained.
Role models and promotes professional growth, development and accountability in staff, students and colleagues.

Quality/Safety/Regulatory
Participates in the development and implementation of the department’s policies and procedures as well as quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, programs and standards.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with department/hospital/system staff, peers and leaders and coordinates efforts to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Participate in hospital, medical staff and system level committees, and addresses issues related to pharmacy.

Financial Management and Planning
Management of not only one’s own time but also for the facilitation of efficiencies of direct reports. In addition, the shared responsibility for decreasing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage), and discovering new efficiencies (across THR) remains a priority for this position.
Assist the Director in implementing, monitoring and evaluating the strategic plan and operational budget for the department.

 

 


Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required
Pharm.D. preferred

Experience
3 years Hospital pharmacy experience required, or, 2 years Hospital pharmacy experience + residency required
1 year progressive leadership experience preferred
Clinical Specialist experience preferred
Residency preferred

Licenses and Certifications
PHAR – Pharmacist required upon hire

Skills
Must be able to read and evaluate legal documents Must have excellent communication skills and be able to effectively present information to physicians, peers, support staff, and other healthcare professionals in all settings. Must be able to communicate effectively over the telephone and directly with individuals, small groups, and large groups. Must be able and available to serve as a clinical resource for the pharmacy department.
