- Work hours: Per diem/PRN; 10-hour Shifts, rotate weekends

- Our primary focus is on the care of the cardiovascular surgical patient which covers a vast variety of procedures, from peripheral vascular surgeries to complex open heart surgeries. Focus on Heart failure and acute care cases – STEMI and non-STEMI’s, surgical patients

Here’s What You Need
- Bachelor’s Degree Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
- Master’s Degree Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner (NP) program required
- Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
- APRN – Advanced Practice Nurse Upon Hire required
- NP – Nurse Practitioner Upon Hire required
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days is required
- 2 years’ Experience as a Nurse Practitioner strongly preferred
- Two (2) years’ experience in cardiothoracic surgical/cardiology background as RN/NP preferred
- RN/NP Experience with cardiac Cath lab patients and cardiothoracic surgery patients preferred
- Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
What You Will Do:
- Skill Set: A&P’s – assessments, progress, discharges, education of patients; pull chest tubes, perform stress tests
- Utilizes principles and skills in communication and interviewing techniques in obtaining a comprehensive health history to formulate a plan of care and make decisions for appropriate therapeutic interventions
- Basic computer skills using medical management application systems – EPIC/Care Connect
- Performs specialty specific technical procedures safely and proficiently
- Utilizes evidenced based practice
- Demonstrates contribution to unit-based programs and research strategies to monitor and continuously improve the quality of patient care
- Flexible scheduling to meet the department and patient needs
