Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Residency – October 2025 

Come and join our LVN Residency Program! We invite graduate LVN’s to apply for this unique opportunity.  The next cohort will begin on October 20, 2025.

Integrated into a Hospital’s education structure, the Texas Health LVN Residency Program includes a guided clinical experience with an instructor-led core curriculum, a formal mentoring program, informative debriefing/self-care sessions and supportive 360-degree evaluations. Residents not only participate in the learning experience on their personally selected home units, but they also rotate/cross train through other departments to gain an expanded nursing experience vital to the complex patient care.

The Texas Health LVN Program is a comprehensive, evidence based on-boarding program with a 15-month employment commitment that offers new LVN’s an exciting opportunity to gain the experience, judgment, skills, and confidence to successfully navigate the complexity of hospital life.

Work hours: Upon completion of the Residency, anticipated hours will be full-time, (3)-12-hour shifts; rotating weekends, holidays, and on call shifts required

Department Highlights:
Neurological Telemetry is the primary inpatient non-intensive stroke and epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU).  The goal for this unit is to provide in-depth evidenced based patient care for those experiencing cerebrovascular disease.  The unit primarily cares for patients who have suffered an acute ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, as well as transient ischemic attacks.  Additionally, patients suffering from other neurological disorders may be cared for on the unit, including seizures. The EMU cares for patients with seizures needing definitive diagnosis, complex seizure patients requiring advanced management, treatment for acute seizures Monday thru Friday. Patients and family require extensive education to maximize the outcome of the epilepsy monitoring.  The unit utilizes telemetry with oversight by centralized monitoring.  The EMU is a partnership and continuous monitoring thru THFW EEG department. Continuous non-invasive blood pressure monitoring and continuous pulse oximetry is also available. Staffing is determined by the skill of the registered nurse and the acuity of the patient. Staffing is assessed every four hours and is adjusted based on acuity. It is typically a 4-5:1 ratio for nurses.

Things you need for the position:
Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program required.
Acceptance into THR residency program required.
Graduated within the last 12 months preferred.
Less than one-year experience at the time the residency begins preferred.
Have not previously completed a THR nursing residency preferred.
LVN – Licensed Vocational Nurse upon hire required.
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.
