THR INTERN PRN

The Administrative Internship program is offered each summer for undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in health care administration. The internship program offers an opportunity to gain familiarity with administrative and clinical functions and participate in daily activities of the health-care organization, which extends for a period of up to twelve weeks.

The internship program provides students the opportunity to participate in a work experience not necessarily afforded them through their academic study. Our program offers students an opportunity to gain familiarity with administrative and/or clinical functions and participate in daily activities of the organization at either the entity or system level. Hosting these students also helps us to further build our relationships with universities and colleges that attract a diverse student population. These are paid, non-benefit eligible positions as interns will be in an immersive work experience program producing work products.

While each internship experience will be different, the objective and format will be generally similar. The student should receive an orientation to the organization, meet the key members of the staff, become acquainted with the environment in which the THR entity functions, have an opportunity to observe the leadership behavior and communications skills of the administrative staff, and be assigned projects relative to core objectives as assigned by the preceptor in the initial phase of the program.

The summer intern will provide administrative, analytic, research or other required support dependent upon business/department needs and commensurate with the employee’s skills, knowledge, abilities, and education. The internship serves as an opportunity for the employee to gain working knowledge of assigned area while contributing to THR’s business objectives. The intern participates in special projects and/or performs other duties as assigned by their mentor.

Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  This role requires the ability to solve problems, think outside the box, and be resourceful; must be result-oriented, a quick learner and a self-starter.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to build THR’s culture for action.

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Working toward Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Healthcare Administration or related field required.
