Here’s What You Need
- H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
- Other – CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency is required
- 6 experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy. is preferred
- PBT(ASCP) – Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire is preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills. Proficient in basic computer skills. Prefer: Venipuncture skills with all age groups.
What You Will Do
- For those entities performing phlebotomy; employee follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient
- Follows established laboratory test procedures
- Helps other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care
- Utilizes time between collections to accomplish other needed tasks (ex. supply management, housekeeping duties, checks with other areas and provides assistance)
- Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees, and observers
- Quality control and equipment maintenance documentation is in compliance with all departmental quality control procedures and all regulatory guidelines
