Texas Health Denton is a Joint Commission-accredited Primary (Level II) Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center, a Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and a Magnet® designated hospital. 

Our four-story specialty center for women and infants features 12 labor and delivery beds, 2 C-section suites along with 6 antepartum and 24 postpartum beds. Texas Health Denton is the city’s only provider of obstetrical and neonatal intensive care services and is the largest provider of obstetrical services in Denton County. The ground floor houses a breast imaging center, outpatient physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation and an internal medicine residency program.  

 

 Position Summary

        Leadership in a 24/7 Environment: Experience managing a fast-paced, high-acuity patient access department with shift coverage across all hours.

Job Description

PEOPLE: This position has primary responsibility to manage function(s) for the Patient Access Services, including patient registration, verification, and financial collection of accounts. The areas of responsibility for this position is Emergency Department. May recruit, hire, dismiss, discipline and perform evaluations according to hospital policies/procedures. Conduct and/or participate in departmental or multidisciplinary meetings, may include recording meeting minutes. Assists in resolution of patient, employee and other customer concerns or occurrences, refer to higher authority if appropriate. Follows the Empowering Excellence Guidelines of Rounding for outcomes, Thank You Cards, Peer Interviews Employee Retention and Employee Satisfaction through Press Ganey, Ensuring strong employee communication with holding department meetings and monthly staff 

QUALITY: This position has primary responsibility to manage function(s) for the Patient Access Services, including patient registration, verification, and financial collection of accounts. The areas of responsibility for this position is Emergency Department. Responsible for the design and implementation of system and entity policies related to data collections, patient and family education, Corporate Compliance program, patient rights and responsibilities, legal consents, release of information, medical staff bylaws and JCAHO, state and federal regulations. Ensuring timely resolutions of Event Reporting Tool and patient complaints. Monitor Duplicate Medical Records and Bad Addresses and other PAS Quality indicators Manage the Registration process and timely, accurate revision of patient accounts. Insure quality of demographic and insurance information for accounts registered in the Main Registration departments, Ensure accurate information obtained through the scheduling process. Timely addresses issues with processes that negatively impact the revenue cycle. Manage data collection efforts at all access points of responsibility. Ensure staff is utilizing the quality tools provided (Nebo, care pricier) 

SERVICE: This position has primary responsibility to manage function(s) for Patient Access Services Department, including patient registration, verification, and financial collection of accounts. The areas of responsibility for this position is Main Registration and Scheduling.
Monitoring Press Ganey scores and patient comments. Communicate Press Ganey information with staff and initiates the improvements needed with other departments and clinic areas.
Works with clinical leadership to improve overall customer service outcomes and insure a positive patient journey.
Responsive to internal and external customer needs and request. Is timely with email responses and inquires from clinical, Patient Access staff and THR Corporate.

FINANCIAL: This position has primary responsibility to Manage function(s) for the Patient Access Services, including patient registration, verification, and financial collection of accounts. The areas of responsibility for this position is Emergency Department.
Ensure that overtime and departmental resources are used properly. 

GROWTH: This position has primary responsibility to Manage function(s) for Patient Access Services including patient registration, verification, and financial collection of accounts. The areas of responsibility for this position is Emergency Department.
Ensure compliance with the THR Up-Front Collection Policy and employ necessary improvements if necessary. 

 

Education
H.S. Diploma or Equivalent 5 Years Required
Or
Associate’s Degree 3 Years Preferred

Experience
3 Years experience in business office management positions in a healthcare or related organization. Required
Patient Access Experience Strongly Preferred
ED Patient Access Experience a Plus  
Supervisory or Managerial Experience Strongly Preferred 

Licenses and Certifications
CHAA – Certified Healthcare Access Associate Upon Hire Preferred
Or
CHAM – Certified Healthcare Access Manager Upon Hire Preferred

Skills
Typing or PC skills, medical terminology and good organizational skills
