Job Description
Continuous Improvement
Ensures an effective process for measuring, assessing and improving patient outcomes and patient safety based standards of care, clinical research findings and applicable benchmarks from both internal and external sources.
Maintains responsibility and accountability for Departmental Key Performance Indicators that articulate the tactical components of the Strategic Plan.
Facilitates implementation of patient safety initiatives and strategies and monitors to ensure the provision of safe and effective care.
Operations
Provides leadership, direction and supervision to ensure efficient and effective day to day functioning in assigned areas and the appropriate delegation of responsibility.
Establishes formal means of accountability within areas of responsibility toward the achievement of established objectives and related measurable results.
Develops, approves, and oversees the implementation of policies, procedures, standards of care and practice the provide direction for the delivery of quality, accurate results in a timely manner.
Directs activities that support compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements.
Creates processes that supports dissemination of data and information to leadership team and staff.
Continuously monitors progress toward the achievement of annual and long-term key performance indicators at the hospital and system level, implementing corrective action plans as necessary.
Strategic Planning
Participates with the Leadership Council in the development and implementation of strategic and operating plans, policies and procedures and decisions that govern hospital wide services and programs.
Participates in and leads the development, implementation and management of program and business plans as appropriate.
Develops and collaborates with others to implement the hospital Plan for the Provision of Care.
Satisfaction
Collaborates with all customer groups to meet and exceed needs/expectations.
Evaluates customer satisfaction on a regular basis to determine gaps in actual results and expectations, formulating and taking corrective measures as appropriate.
Fiscal Management
Maintains accountability, authority, and responsibility for the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the operating and capital budget for assigned departments, ensuring high quality and safe patient care, strong patient satisfaction and superior financial results.
Monitors and evaluates budget variances in order to provide for the continuous availability of quality services, taking corrective measures as appropriate.
Human Resources
Evaluates staffing and qualification requirements for the provision of services. Ensures effective recruitment and retention program that meets established targets. Promotes professional growth, development and accountability in staff, students and colleagues.
Coaches and mentors subordinate staff in order to improve their performance and expand responsibilities. Creates and supports a structure for shared decision making with an emphasis in inter/intradepartmental team work and team accomplishments.
Establishes the processes and participates in reward and recognition of individual and team accomplishments. Identifies and develops leadership talent and skills within the Radiology and Imaging Services Department.
Professional Accountability
Seeks additional knowledge and skills by developing and/or participation in education programs and activities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, department/hospital staff, management team and system entity peers. Promotes a professional image in demeanor, appearance, attitude and behaviors.
Engages in self performance appraisal, seeking feedback, identifying areas of strength as well as areas for professional development. Establishes, promotes and participates in community activities.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required. Individuals hired into the position prior to January 1, 2018 will be grandfathered with existing education.
Master’s Degree Healthcare or business related field preferred
Experience
5 years Imaging leadership experience required
Licenses and Certifications
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
CMRT – Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist TMB required upon hire
ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or, CNMT – Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist required upon hire
CRA – Certified Radiology Administrator AHRA preferred upon hire
Skills
Knowledge of industry standards: organizational management; quality improvement and change management techniques; financial analysis, budget process and planning, and familiarity with spreadsheets; accreditation and regulatory standards and the ability to interpret the requirements as applicable to assigned areas; strategic planning principles.
Supervision
This position manages around 20 employees
