Clinical Program Specialist RT- Full Time/ Days

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with variable hours.
What you will do:
Clinical Expert:
Responsible for the clinical activities of the department pertaining to relevance, current standards of practice and achievement of clinical goals/outcomes.
Responsible as the dept resource for clinical team/function, to orient and train new employees, new skills, new tasks or updated procedures.
Responsible for awareness of bedside activities and level of performance clinically for the members of their team.
Regularly assure clinical application of dept policies or procedures are accurate; to coach, remediation mentor at the bedside with all staff as needed.
Follow up with the supervisor regarding employees who are not responsive to bedside coaching.
Responsible for engaging staff in a positive leading method in order to achieve outcomes and to report to team supervisor evenly for all employees any events of compliance non-compliance.
Decisions made based in the best interest of the patient.
Patient Assessment and Care Planning:
Assess all patients prior to care, during care and post care on all elements required by the RT discipline.
Assure clinical needs demonstrated by such are met with current orders or seek physician to adjust orders.
Monitor, manage and update patient clinical data as occurs/required and will take safe, timely and appropriate actions in response to the patient’s changing condition or status.
Design care plans and care delivery only upon physician orders and records care plan with goals and outcomes.
Re-assessment and care planning updates complete in the correct time frames.
Basic Clinical Duties:
Provide clinical services for pediatric, teen, adult geriatric for items clinically checked off oriented in your file.
Maintain required competency by licensure and entity requirements each year.
Perform and provide coverage for all basic procedures in these age groups anywhere in the entity.
Educate patient/family and correctly instruct on RT services, duties, equipment and availability of RRT to patients.
Patient Safety
Adhere to all patient safety requirements. Re-enforce requirements with department employees and trainees.
Utilize the safe application of equipment, devices, procedures and medications following department, hospital and manufacturer processes. Precept/orient train staff in the correct steps and safety processes.
Represent the RT discipline through out entity as a partnership in safety activities with regard to the respiratory needs of the patient and the department.

Education
Other Graduate of approved respiratory therapy program as required by NBRC Required
Experience
2 Years experience as a Respiratory Therapist Required
Licenses and Certifications
RCP – Respiratory Care Practitioner Upon Hire Required And
RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist Upon Hire Required And
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
Skills
Ability to speak, read, write English w/ a high level of understanding. Ability to hear breath sounds and cardiac sounds w/ a stethoscope. Ability to see the computer read outs for ventilators and computers used in the provision of RT services & electronic health records.
