- Performs and provides treatments for minor acute illness, consumer examinations, making initial assessment, initiating treatment and referring to appropriate center of care when applicable.
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
- Instructs and counsels consumers by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
- Develops and implements consumer management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care. May be required to supervise ancillary staff.
- Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions and refers consumers to specialist and to relevant consumer care options as appropriate.
- Demonstrates good organizational skills in coordinating services with co-workers and other departments/services.
- Responds to stressful situations in a calm, rational manner and cooperates with all to facilitate integration of services.

- Bachelors Degree Physician Assistant accepted If graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program prior to January 2021 required
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required
- 6 Months as an APP in an urgent care, or emergency department setting required or
- 1 Year Family practice or related field required
- Suturing experience strongly preferred
- RN – Registered Nurse with the state of Texas upon hire required and
- NP – Nurse Practitioner with Texas Licensure and Certificate to practice as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the Texas State Board upon hire required and
- National Certification or eligible for certification as Nurse Practitioner upon hire required Or
- PA – Physician Assistant with the state of Texas upon hire required and
- Texas Licensure and Certificate to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the Texas State Board upon hire required and
- National Certification or eligible for certification as Physician Assistant upon hire required and
- Valid Drug Enforcement Agency license upon hire required
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support (through AHA or American Red Cross), maintained every 2 years required within 30 days of hire
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of national medical best practices within an urgent care setting
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of personal computers and related systems and software
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to willingly accept responsibility
- Ability to set priorities and use good judgement
