We specialize in women’s services, perioperative services, heart and vascular care, acute care/med surg, intermediate care/step-down, oncology and emergency medicine. Additional specialties include nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, respiratory therapy, and neuroscience care, including neurosurgery and stroke.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree Nursing, Microbiology, Medical Technology or related field or Master’s Degree in Public Health is required.  (Individuals hired as a Pgrm Mgr Infection Prevention prior to August 1, 2015 will be grandfathered to the Pgrm Mgr Infection Prevention with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing, at the entity they were employed at on August 1, 2015.)
  • Three (3) years acute care hospital, alternative care setting (Rehab, LTC, SNU), or infectious disease epidemiology is required.
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience in Infection Prevention (IP Pgrm Mgr or IP Mgr) is preferred.
  • RN – Registered Nurse If Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or MT(ASCP) – Medical Technologist if Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology or Biology or M(ASCP) – Microbiology if Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology or Biology is required upon hire.
  • CIC – Certification in Infection Prevention and Control is required within three (3) years of hire.

Skills for success in this role include:

Knowledge and experience in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfection/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, computer and data management, program administration, and epidemiology is preferred.

What You’ll Do

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Operations:  Leads a multi-disciplinary team in development of an annual IP plan, based on population(s) served and services provided; collects/analyzes data to assess the effectiveness of the IP plan and modifies as needed. Interfaces and serves as the liaison to System Services Infection Prevention.

Professional Stewardship:  Serves as subject matter expert for infection prevention and control.

Leadership:  Performs cost-quality analysis for a given product/service and makes recommendations to leaders based on how various product/service options align with IPC best practices.

Quality Improvement:  Uses PI methodology to assess performance, sets achievable goals, uses data to initiate changes, and develops measures that will ensure sustainability of the improvement.

IPC Informatics:  Reports required information to local, state and federal agencies in an accurate and timely manner.

Research:  Incorporates research and makes informed decisions when recommending products, devices, and supplies to use and implement.
