What did you want to be as a kid, and how did you ultimately choose your career?
I wanted to be a professional drummer when I was young and naive. I quickly found that being a professional musician was not going to happen, especially since my parents refused to buy me another drum set after I destroyed my first one (something about drums being too loud).
Around the age of 17, I was assigned the task of taking my grandmother to rehab after shoulder surgery. That was my first exposure to therapy, and I was quickly sold on becoming a therapist.

What is your favorite Texas Health memory?
It’s hard to pick just one favorite Texas Health memory. The last two years have been full of great memories with my co-workers and patients.
How do you incorporate our Vision 2026 pillar of Consumer Focus in your daily work?
It’s important to earn the trust of patients. They are expecting you to assist them on their road to recovery. Developing good rapport and healthy communication are two keys to helping patient feel comfortable, which will ultimately help earn their trust.
What do you like most about your job?
My co-workers are awesome (shout-out to Inpatient Rehab). I love getting the chance to play a small part in a patient’s recovery. Working at a hospital constantly helps put life in perspective and enables me to be thankful for the life I have. Texas Health is a great company to work for. The list goes on and on.
What is something about you that would surprise people?
I play drums all the time now – just not professionally.
