The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has recognized Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas today for the fourth time as a Magnet® hospital – the most prestigious designation honoring nursing services.
A total of 547 hospitals worldwide and 55 in Texas have received Magnet® status. Texas Health Dallas joins only seven Texas hospitals to have achieved Magnet® designation for the fourth time. Four other wholly owned Texas Health hospitals are also Magnet® recognized hospitals.
“This reaffirms Texas Health Dallas’ long, rich history of more than 50 years providing quality patient care,” said Kirk King, Hospital Channel chief operating officer. “The recognition demonstrates the hospital’s ongoing leadership in overall healthcare,

nursing excellence and innovative practice. I’m proud of this team and all they have achieved, particularly during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Just as the program name implies, a Magnet®-designated hospital is recognized for its “magnetic” nursing environment where nurses and clinical staff work collaboratively within a positive culture that supports new ideas and evidence-based work practices. Although Magnet® is a program designed for the recognition of nurses, the entire interdisciplinary care team plays a valuable part in attaining the Magnet® designation.
“Our fourth re-designation meant meeting rigorous quality indicators and submitting many sources giving evidence of nursing and inter-professional impact on structure, process and outcomes,” said Elizabeth Asturi, M.S.N., R.N., NE-BC, chief nursing officer at Texas Health Dallas. “This year’s virtual site visit took place in May, and we were able to show our amazing culture of professionalism and excellence that our nurses have led and helped to build. I am humbled to work with our compassionate, skilled nurses and care teams. They shine every day, but they were particularly superb during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
For consumers, having a Magnet®-designated hospital near their community means they can expect a safe, quality experience every time they need care. The ANCC’s Vision, updated in 2020, says: “The Magnet Recognition Program will transform healthcare globally by bringing knowledge, skill, innovation, leadership and compassion to every person, family, and community.”
Congratulations, Texas Health Dallas!
