Meet our CNO at Texas Health Hospital Frisco

A message from Kirk King, hospital channel chief operating officer, and Brett Lee, president, Texas Health Hospital Frisco:

We are pleased to announce that Dorothy “Dort” C. Foglia, B.S.N., M.S. Ph.D., R.N., NEA-BC, has been named chief nursing officer at Texas Health Hospital Frisco. She starts Aug. 12.

Texas Health formed a separate nonprofit organization with UT Southwestern to own and operate Texas Health Frisco, a joint venture between the two systems. The acute care hospital is scheduled to open this year with 73 beds and offer a 24/7 emergency department, surgical services, women’s services and a neonatal intensive care unit.

As we build the management team for the hospital, Dort brings years of experience in this key leadership role. For nearly seven years, Dort has served as vice president and associate chief nursing officer at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. She directly oversaw critical care, acute care, and psychiatry, with indirect oversight for nursing in the emergency department, as well as the NICU/PICU, which has 86 critical care beds. Dort has been at Children’s since 1987, serving in a variety of positions.

She has successfully designed and implemented strategies and new programs and processes to improve organizational performance. Dort also has succeeded in developing new models to standardize care delivery and optimize cost.

She earned a bachelor of science in nursing from Pennsylvania State University, a master of science from Texas Woman’s University in Denton and a Ph.D. in nursing from Texas Woman’s.

A McKinney resident, Dort spends most of her free time with her family. Married to Denny Foglia for nearly 40 years, they are proud parents of two children — a son who is an attorney and a daughter who is a surgeon. Their son is married with a 3-year-old son and their daughter is married with a 6-month-old son. Dort and her family are avid sports fans and love to travel.

Please join us in welcoming Dort.
