Angelo Betancourt, a chaplain at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth, and Landa Pustejovsky, a program coordinator in Cardiac Rehab, were recently honored with awards from Texas Health Resources senior leaders.
Betancourt received the Living the Mission Award from CEO Barclay Berdan while Pustejovsky earned the new Consumer Excellence Award from Winjie Miao, senior executive vice president and chief experience officer. Berdan, Miao and other Texas Health senior leaders visited the hospital as part of the Roadshow & Listening Tour series devised to discuss strategy and obtain leaders’ input.
Living the Mission Award
Recipients of the Living the Mission award exemplify three important criteria:

- Goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care
- Supports his/her team without reservation

Betancourt has followed his calling to offer comfort and solace during trying times.
“One of Angelo’s greatest strengths is his ability to help others feel safe while confronting difficult challenges,” said Mary Ellen Barrow, manager of Pastoral Care at Texas Health Southwest. “He completes a discrete, conversational, structured spiritual assessment to determine what is important to get the family through this difficult time, what gives them hope and peace, and what other connections can assure them that they can make it through this time.”
Consumer Excellence Award
Pustejovsky is the first employee at Texas Health Southwest to receive the new award. Recipients epitomize living our Vision and meet the following criteria:
- Provides great customer service
- Recognizes that consumers have a choice, and we want them to choose Texas Health
- Strives to understand and treat the whole person
“Landa is the newest cardiac rehab coordinator, and in her first six months she helped the team redeploy during the COVID-19 surge, and then reopen the unit quickly to make sure discharged cardiology patients got to their cardiac rehab appointments as soon as possible to reduce complications,” said Megan Carter, D.N.P., R.N., NEA-BC, associate chief nursing officer. “She is a role model of customer service and compassion even during turbulent and stressful moments.”
Pustejovsky is also known for her calm demeanor, which, accompanied by patience and compassion, has proven soothing to patients and family members who need reassurance.
