Asturi receives Texas 20 for 2020 award

Elizabeth Asturi, M.S.N., R.N., NE-BC, chief nursing officer, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, has received the Texas Nurses Association’s 20 for 2020 Nurse Award. The 20 nurses were recognized as nurses in the state of Texas who went above and beyond in 2020 – the Year of the Nurse and Midwife, as declared by the World Health Organization. The award acknowledges their dedication, perseverance, compassion and commitment to Texans during an exceptional year.

“Elizabeth is a smart, strong and tenacious leader, and she displayed this throughout the pandemic,” said Jim Parobek, president, Texas Health Dallas. “She made difficult decisions, pivoted when needed and was always available for our nurses, whether for a listening ear or for solid advice.”

Asturi, who joined Texas Health Dallas from Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford in November 2019, says she is proud of the work of all nurses in 2020. Asturi was also recently named a DFW Great 100 Nurse.

“2020 was an incredibly challenging year for all of us, but we did what nurses always do,” she said. “We rose to the challenge and led our communities through a difficult and scary time. We did what was needed to care for our patients and each other, and we did it without hesitation.”

Asturi gives credit to all of her nursing colleagues and her family for her receiving the 20 for 2020 Nurse Award.

“This is a career highlight for me, but I absolutely could not have achieved this level of recognition without the support of my family and my nursing colleagues,” she said.
