An inner-city Fort Worth park that Texas Health Resources helped transform from a gang haven, was dedicated earlier this month.
Ralph Bunche Park, which is in the Stop Six neighborhood between two schools, sat undeveloped for 40 years. Texas Health, with Blue Zones ProjectTM, donated $86,788 to buy and install playground and fitness equipment at the park.
“The Mission of Texas Health is to improve the health of the people in the communities we serve,” said Laura McWhorter, vice president of the Texas Health Resources Foundation. “That doesn’t just happen within the walls of our hospitals, clinics and doctors’ offices. It happens as people move more, improving their physical health, and it happens as families and friends connect more and strengthen social and emotional bonds.
“Places like Bunche Park strengthen neighborhoods and communities and improve the health of Stop Six and Fort Worth.”
