Progressive Care Units overviews:
• PCU Surgical Tele Unit – a 35 bed unit specializes in the care of cardiovascular surgical patients, thoracic surgical patients, vascular surgical patients, cath lab patients, heart failure patients, pace makers, and all cardiac conditions. This unit is a high acuity telemetry unit that requires multi-tasking and strong critical thinking skills. We work closely with our surgeons, advanced practitioners, care transition managers and clinical nurse leaders to ensure our patients receive quality care from admission to the aftercare setting.
• PCU Cardiac Tele Unit – our recently renovated and expanded 24 bed post interventional unit mixed with medical telemetry providing comprehensive post interventional care to patients from admission to discharge. We specialize in the care of cardiovascular patients which includes Heart Failure, AMI and Arrhythmia patients, pre and post interventional patients (Cath, Ablations, & Pacemakers). We pull femoral sheaths and take medications that other units do not take and have a care transitions manager and clinical nurse leaders on the unit to aide in the continuum of care as well as help with the patient transition from the hospital setting to their after care setting. Our unit features a 2017 Nurse Excellence Award winner and the 2018 DFWHC Employee of the year winner for Hospitals greater than 500 beds.
• PCU Neuro Tele Unit – a 35 bed Stroke designated unit with a patient population that consists of adult patients with primarily neurological and cardiovascular diagnoses requiring higher level of care in a non- ICU setting. We specialize in the care of cardiac patients with Heart Failure, AMI and Arrhythmias, pre and post interventional patients (Cath and pacemakers/ AICD) and Neuro patients such CVA, seizures, severe migraines requiring drips. It is a high acuity telemetry unit that signifies a reduced nurse to patient ratio. Ability to obtain PCCN or SCRN certifications
