Pathway to Excellence

Texas Health Kaufman recognized for ‘outstanding, outstanding results’

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman was redesignated a Pathway to Excellence® Hospital on Monday, the third time for the recognition.

“We have an amazing team, and this redesignation validates our commitment to excellence,” said Toya White, J.D., MBA, M.S.N., APRN, FNP-C, FACHE, president and chief nursing officer.

Linda Harden, the American Nurses Credentialing Center commissioner who announced the redesignation via Teams, enthusiastically said the hospital had “outstanding, outstanding results! How you support your nursing team came through loud and clear.”

Pathway to Excellence “recognizes a health care organization’s commitment to creating a positive practice environment,” according to the ANCC website.

To earn the designation, hospitals submit an application containing examples of how the hospital meets ANCC’s six practice standards for an ideal working environment. The standards focus on shared decision-making, leadership, safety, quality, well-being and professional development.

Nurses at the hospital take an independent, confidential survey to validate that the standards are being upheld.

Texas Health Kaufman was recognized for two exemplars: a program that enhances patient experience in ambulatory surgery by providing go bags and a light meal before discharge; and a well-being initiative in which direct care nurses identified and planned the development of a retreat room.

“Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it,” Harden said. “You’re doing an awesome job.”
