EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST – Willow Park

Here’s What You Need:
· Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field required.
· 1 years’ experience with cardiac rehab is highly preferred.
· BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.
· ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days required.
· CCES – Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist Upon Hire
· RCEP – Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist Upon Hire
Here’s What You Will Do:
Exercise Science/Customer Service:
· Oversee that each patient has an appropriate exercise prescription each day.
· Supervise exercise theory sessions to assure each patient is performing exercises correctly and at the prescribed level.
· Assess patients during exercise sessions and counsel for risk reduction.
· Utilizes multidisciplinary staff appropriately.
· Ensure proper equipment usage.
· Take patients vitals (BP, HR, O2 sat)
· Age specific pain assessment and intervention is performed; monitor EKG telemetry and EKG interpretation.
· Provide exercise instruction of special needs other than cardiac (i.e., low back/orthopedic)
· Develop plan of action for post discharge.
Administrative:
· Maintain and close-out patient charts.
· Patient follow-up (i.e., send reports to MD and insurance company as needed)
· Review each patient’s medical records and document in charts for staff use.
· Write progress letters/reports for insurance companies to receive benefits or extension of benefits.
· Develop and revise forms.
· Assist in research and special projects.
Prepare rehab area for patients/class:
· Clean area
· Test defibrillator
· Record refrigerator temperatures.
· Input new patients into computer.
· Reserve equipment
· Put out chairs, monitors, BP cuffs, O2 monitors, etc.
· Compile daily goal sheets and orientation check lists.
· Troubleshoots for the day’s activities.
· Delegate tasks to maximize staff effectiveness.
· Strives to meet Departmental Key Performance Indicators/System Key Focus Areas.
Partnership:
· Actively participates in formal and informal teaching and evaluation to strengthen clinical competence of self and team members.
· Acceptable use of interpersonal relationship skills with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, and other customers.
· Flexible with scheduling to help meet departmental/patient needs.
· Adapts to changes in workload assignments to meet changing needs of the individual patient or the unit.
Education:
· Ensure patients and staff are current on exercise issues, trends and other related issues through staff meetings and in-services.
· Ensure patients have an understanding of exercise principles and the benefits of exercise through classroom lecture and on the floor discussion.
