Qualifications
Education
Associate’s Degree Applied Science Req Or
Other completion of accredited program in cardiovascular technology Must obtain RCIS within 6 months of hire Req Or
H.S. Diploma or Equivalent 2 Years work experience in invasive cardiology Req
Other – CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency Req
Experience
1 Year vascular or cardiac angiography Pref or
2 Years required with high school diploma Req
Cath Lab experience strongly preferred
Licenses and Certifications
ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire Req And
GMRT – General Medical Radiologic Technologist If ARRT Only Upon Hire Pref Or
RCIS – Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Obtain within 6 months if graduate from Cardiovascular Accredited Program Upon Hire Req And
LMRT – Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist If RCIS Only Upon Hire Pref Or
RCES – Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist For Electrophysiology Labs (EP) Only Upon Hire Req And
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Req And
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Req And
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Req
Here’s What You’ll Do
Patient Care
- Prepares room for examination (i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies)
- Checks physician orders and exam requisitions using time-out procedures
Imaging Procedures, Quality and Processing
- Adjusts technique parameters appropriately for age related factors
- Assists radiologist with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Troubleshoots and properly documents equipment malfunction
- Maintains equipment and room to sanitary standards
