Cardiac Device Technician – Heart & Vascular Specialists Clinic – Full-Time, Days

Work location:  6300 W. Parker Road, Suite 322, Plano, TX 75093
Work hours:  Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday thru Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Travel:  50% to surrounding clinics as needed (mileage reimbursement provided)

Here’s What You Need
 
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required) and
  • 2 Years Clinical experience in EP or Cath Lab in lieu of degree (required) and
  • 2 Years Experience in healthcare, life sciences, engineering or technical field preferably in clinic and cardiovascular setting (without Associate’s Degree) and
  • Experience in managing clinic and remote device transmission and transferring to EMR system (strongly preferred)
 
OR
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree Health Science (preferred)
  • Associate’s Degree Health Science (required) and
  • 1 Year Experience in healthcare, life sciences, engineering or technical field preferably in clinic and cardiovascular setting (with Associate’s Degree) and
  • Experience with checking devices in the industry, such as Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Biotronics, etc. (strongly preferred)
 
Licenses and Certifications
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire (required)  and
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire (required)  and
  • IBHRE (International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners Certification Upon Hire (preferred)
 
Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to interact with staff and management.
  • Proven ability to handle personnel actions and leading others.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within field.
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
  • EHR experience
  • Prior experience with device management seeing patients through industry, hospital and or clinic setting.
 
What You Will Do
  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Cardiac Device Technician Process
  • Will perform device interrogation, interpretation, and reprograms cardiac devices using established protocols set by physicians, working independently. 
  • Provides Carelink, Merlin, Latitude (remote follow-up) enrollment, education and training to patients and staff to promote accurate and efficient checks. 
  • Troubleshoots cardiac devices and immediately takes steps to resolve problems, working with physicians as needed.
  • Offers potential solutions as applicable to the patient and device programming. 
  • Document Device Analysis using the EMR system and works collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers to optimize the device for the patient’s condition. 
  • Conducts post-op wound check by removing bandages following clean technique as outlined by protocol and following implanting physician discharge instructions. 
  • Educates patient on purpose of device, signs to look for if there is an issue or concern, and provide contract information so patient is informed on process to contact physician, APP and device clinic. 
  • Educates patient on purpose of device ID card, and keeping with them as provides information if hospitalized , traveling or in an emergency. 
  • Serves as an effective representative to physicians, APP’s, hospital, device industry and clinic staff regarding devices that have been implanted in the THPG cardiology practices and also may come to us from other practices if patient has relocated.
  • Stay current in the knowledge of each manufacturer’s devices (Elective Replacement ( ERI), End of Life (EOL), device recall, and latest technology to check devices in clinic outpatient setting.  Performs other duties as assigned.
