Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech for full time employment.
Education: Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program or Vocational Nurse Program
Experience: One year current operating room experience in an acute care setting preferred.
License/Certification: Valid CST/CTS Cert or LVN License to practice in state of Texas. BCLS required.
Skills: A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, acceptable grooming practices and ability to function in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Duties: Communication and computer skills. Patient care, Equipment Operation and Maintenance, Professional Accountability and Partnership
Nursing Process - Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Adults, and Geriatrics.
1 Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
2 Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcome.
• Demonstrates knowledge and serves as a resource person in vascular anatomy, catheterization techniques and selection of appropriate balloon, stent, catheter, closure device and wire.
• Performs scrub duties as assigned.
3 Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
4 Age Specific Care. Demonstrates competence in assisting with the performance of age appropriate patient care that is specific to the unique physiological and anatomic aspects of life from the very young to the older adult.
Infection Control - Assists in the delivering of nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection and accidental contamination.
Safety - Assists in delivering patient care in a manner which protects the patient from injury.
Continuous Improvement. Care is provided with an emphasis on continually improving quality, service, and cost effectiveness.
Leadership/Professionalism - Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
Post Procedure and Financial Activities:
1 Readily assists co-workers in procedure room turn over.
2 Transports patients to and from department.
3 Reports and records equipment failures, generates work orders.
4 Operates photocopier, fax machine, tube system and computer.
5 Demonstrates understanding of hospital operating system, relational databases, network servers and PC workstations.
6 Monitors and completes procedure charge forms.
7 Inventories and maintains PAR levels of stock and non-stock supplies.
8 Verifies purchase orders for accuracy and assists with restocking supplies as they are received in department.
9 Demonstrates understanding of hospital operating system, relational databases, network servers and PC workstations.
