Police Officer PRN to work "as needed" for Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associates Degree in Criminal Justice preferred
Valid Texas Drivers’ License in good standing.
Must be actively employed with the Fort Worth Police Department and in good standing.
Must be certified with a current Texas Peace Officer License (TCLEOSE/TCOLE) and be in good standing with licensing and commissioning agency.
Ability to make independent decisions with tact, mature and positive attitude. The incumbent must also demonstrate initiative in assuming responsibilities. The incumbent must be cooperative, discreet and courteous in handling visitors and employees within the scope of assigned authority.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (including, but not limited to)
Patrols hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders. Primary area of patrol in interior and exterior Emergency Room. Duties in the area include, but are not limited to: (a) taking a proactive stance in enforcing state law and city ordinances; (b) maintaining and preserving the peace; (c) answering calls and providing assistance service for clinical and security staff. Guard details are at the direction of the hospital administration and will be scheduled as needed. The primary duty of these details will be the protection of hospital employees, visitors and patients.
Monitors conduct of patients, visitors, and personnel on hospital premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed. These situations include, but are not limited to: (a) trespassing offenses; (b) transients and intoxicated persons; (c) burglaries, thefts, and other offenses occurring to out buildings, vehicles, or inside the hospital; (d) traffic accidents occurring on or near the hospital campus; and (e) other situations as deemed as appropriate by the Chief of Security. Degree of physical demand required for activity: Medium: 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Acts as an arresting officer as necessary when protecting hospital staff, visitors, patients and property. Uses discretion and remains professional at all times during these situations.
