Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas is seeking a PBX Operator PRN to work "as needed."

Variable schedules include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, including weekends and holidays.

High School Diploma or equivalent required

One year of hospital experience required

Knowledge of computer software and keyboarding skills
CRT experience helpful
Knowledge w/Emergency codes (e.g. fire, disasters, Code Blue medical emergencies, all codes etc.) helpful
Must display good leadership qualities and exemplify the system vision of THR.
Must be a mentor and coach to fellow peers.
Must possess the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and continuously with callers on a daily basis.
Must be able to interact with patients and their families under stressful conditions.
Must portray a high quality of customer service skills, including verbal/oral skills.

Job Responsibilities: (Including but not limited to):
Receives and processes all calls, internal and external, via PBX switchboard.
Understands and follows release of information policy.
Maintains extensive knowledge of hospital extensions and uses appropriate screening and prioritization skills to transfer incoming calls.
Utilizes overhead paging system to locate physicians and relay management approved information to employees and visitors.
Assists with training of new PBX staff.

Monitors all code monitors (i.e. Code Blue, Code Red, etc.) and answers code phone and code board immediately.
Remains calm in all emergent situations and makes appropriate announcements according to hospital and/or departmental policies, notifying all appropriate departments and individuals through telephone calls, voice paging and digital paging when an emergency situation and/or code occurs.

Dispatches security for all requests from staff and all code situations.

Adapts to changing needs of unit by maintaining flexibility in scheduling to meet needs of department and others, follows and accepts department scheduling guidelines.
