Required Minimum Education:
Associate's Degree in Radiology Equipment Technology or Electronics or related field
Military training/education or Vocational/Trade school or Specialized formal training and Certification of Completion in CT, Nuclear Medicine, MR
Angiographic/Vascular Imaging Systems. This training should be from an OEM or recognized
Radiology Training Institute.
Required Minimum Experience:
8 years experience servicing diagnostic imaging systems and 2 years experience of primary responsibility servicing the above specialized modalities (shown in Education)
Upon hire Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Certification as a Biomedical Technician (CBET), or Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES)
Repair, install, maintain, calibrate and inspect high-end diagnostic imaging systems. Provides instruction and guidance to other Technicians in performing these duties.
Under minimal supervision demonstrate good technical/troubleshooting skills using digital voltage meters, radiation meters and a variety of equipment analyzers. Able to read schematics and diagrams in service manuals to calibrate/repair equipment. Able to instruct other Technicians on the proper operation and service of assigned specialized modalities. Be a resource for technical information to other Technicians. Able to step in when necessary
to advance a service action to a successful conclusion.
Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety of high end diagnostic imaging systems. Effectively review historic documentation to determine additional testing that could prevent future system failures. Ensure proper calibrations, parts replacement and testing of systems during required scheduled maintenance. Review and address any problems or recurrent issues that when corrected will lead to longer time between failures.
Assists Manager with developing better and more efficient preventative maintenance procedures and protocols to ensure a higher degree of reliability and longer times between failures.
Periodically travel to various Texas Health Resources facilities to perform service related activities. Able to respond to a variety of imaging service issues at any of Texas Health Resources' facilities in the metroplex. Uses company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner and reports service or safety issues with the vehicles to the proper controlling Manager.
Complete and maintain documentation of all PM and repair actions in a timely manner using established department work order/asset management program.
Properly documents labor time and costs as well as all parts used and their associated costs. Paperwork performer and closed within 48 hours of job completion. Completes and enters service records of OEM field service reports in work order system reflecting proper labor times and parts utilized.
Performs daily rounds in assigned areas. Works specifically with staff in high-end modalities such as MR, CT, Nuclear medicine and/or Angiographic/Vascular Imaging. Participates in on-call duties for weekend and after hours service coverage. Able to develop effective communication with staff in assigned areas. Become a point of contact between the staff and the Clinical Engineering dept. on critical issues of service and operation of equipment. Ability with minimal
supervision to perform on-call duties after hours, on weekends and whenever the department is closed. Able to successfully and effectively use all resources at their disposal to address and correct service issues during on-call hours. Assists in the development of diagnostic tools to be used through-out the imaging spectrum.
Recommend the purchase or acquisition of biomedical equipment or related accessories; advise Lead Engineer of equipment deficiencies as required.
Document all actions and test results in accordance with departmental policy, using equipment database and standard office software. Maintain maintenance history records and prepare reports as required.
Coordinate and/or lead in special projects, including installation of new systems, acceptance testing, equipment upgrades and equipment disposals.
Mentoring level 1 imaging techs
Provide application and network support ensuring stability, reliability and high availability of Information Technology systems that are supported by Health Technology Management. This includes but not limited to upgrades, patches, downtime, backup/restoration and disaster recovery planning.
Manage software upgrades and revisions and networked issues.
