Texas Health Resources is in need of a Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager

Hours: 1st/Day Shift

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.

Minimum Experience:
Six years in an accounting position within a multi-facility healthcare organization or non-profit
organization.

License/Certification:
CPA preferred

Skills:
Above average analytical skills, above average knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing, above average written and oral communication skills.
Excellent knowledge of US GAAP is required combined with the ability to research and propose positions on complex accounting issues.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity
Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
Interpret and understand financial statements and financial data
Multi-task and possess advanced organizational skills
Ability to stay focused and work independently


Job Duties:
This position will perform multiple duties related to financial reporting, including:
-Prepare/review monthly board report package and manage the internal review for these documents
-Review quarterly bond disclosures and verify external posting
-Prepare/review annual audited financial statements for the consolidated organization as well as multiple joint ventures, stand alone hospital, benefit plans, etc.
-Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner
-Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management team, accounting, and external auditors
-Assist in communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with organization decisions on accounting disclosures
-Assist in the coordination of annual audits of external auditors
-Create, implement and maintain comprehensive accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency
-Implement and maintain reporting procedures
-Support month end and year end closing
-Participate in other projects as required

Directs the preparation of monthly financial statements through the preparation of journal entries, variance analysis and other month end close responsibilities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Demonstrates a complete understanding of the various subledger systems that interface with the general ledger. Is able to carry out responsibilities without direct supervision and is able to coordinate with others as necessary.

Directs the timely preparation of reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. Able to provide detailed analysis of variances demonstrating judgment as to the cause and effect of account transactions and reconciling items.

Directs the preparation of work papers, schedules and other supporting documents for monthly close, budgets, external audit, tax reporting and other regulatory reporting.

May supervise accounting staff responsible for the proper recording of assigned financial activity.
