Texas Health Harris Methodist HEB in Bedford is currently seeking to hire a full time Admissions Specialist in their Emergency Department.

Part Time, 20 hours/week; 3rd Shift
Friday, Saturday
9:00pm to 7:30am
Must be available to attend 2-3 weeks of training period initially, Monday to Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm

This position is located inside the Emergency Room. It is a fast paced environment that requires quick thinking when dealing with emergency situations. In this role, the Admissions Specialist will be exposed to various clinical emergencies as patients arrive to the ER. The majority of the shift will be spent on your feet as you register patients.

Required minimum education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

• 1 year of customer service experience required.
• Other hospital and physician office experience is helpful
• 2-3 years of hospital admissions experience is preferred.
• Medical Insurance Verification experience preferred
Scheduling experience a plus.

• CHAA (Certified Healthcare Admissions Associates preferred)

• Ability to type, spell, write, or print legibly with general knowledge of personal computers is required
• Strong interpersonal communication, documentation, and customer service skills is required
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Job duties:
*Obtains accurate financial and complete demographic information during Pre-Admission and/or Registration pertaining to the patient account. The registration process may require use of Computers on Wheels (COW’s) Essential.

*Presents and thoroughly explains legal, ethical, and compliance related documents. Maintains knowledge of local, state government and federal programs. Provides all payment options: cash, checks, major credit cards/debit cards and THR Financing. This may require preparation and distribution of documents.

*Maintains knowledge of the Financial Policy and deployment of practices used within the department, as well as, Central Business Operations to resolve patient accounts. Coordinate accurate patient data to determine financial obligation based on the financial policy including collection of insurance co-payments, self-pay deposits, and patient balances.

*Protects the integrity of the Medical Record. Elimination of duplicate identities (multiple identities per person), Overlays (same, identity for multiple people), Shared Identities (2 or more people claim to be same unique identifier (SSN) Maintains error tolerance rate of 90%.

*Reviews on-line edit and perform necessary action to correct the patient account. Distributes corrections as appropriate.

*Obtain and/or update verification of benefits and/or /pre-certification of test or procedure. Uses automated and manual processes to obtain information pertaining to the patients benefits when applicable

*This position serves as the first point of contact for our patients and exemplifies personal warmth and patient engagement, professionalism, is discrete,
and offers solutions in anticipation of patient needs. Greets every patient verbally, with eye contact and body language that is welcoming and friendly.
Gives total attention to patient and listens to what patients are saying and is conscious of non-verbal clues to patient's status. Seeks to personally
provide resolution to patient issues/needs or personally hands off to a more suitable level of staff member.

*Verifies and obtains patient demographic information. Collects complete financial information to include payer name, identification number, group
number, subscriber, precertification, and complete mail claim information. Positively identifies all patients prior to registration or revision. Explains
consent information, obtains signatures and witnesses with no omissions. Distributes literature to patient to include information related to Advance
Directives and Patient Rights and others according to procedure.

*To minimize THR's financial risk by identifying and collection of know out of pocket expenses at the point of service. Maintains knowledge of the Financial Policy and deployment of practices used within the department, as well as, Central Business Operations to resolve patient accounts. Coordinate
accurate patient data to determine financial obligation based on the financial policy including collection of insurance co-payments, self pay deposits, and patient balances.
