Qualifications/Duties:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: BS in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion or related field of study

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3 years fitness center experience with progressive experience in operations management
Sales and marketing experience in a retail fitness environment preferred

MINIMUM LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Personal Training certified (i.e.: ASCM, NSCA, ISSA or ACE)
Group Exercise Leader certification (preferred)
CPR certification or the ability to certify

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS: Basic computer proficiency
Excellent verbal, written communications and interpersonal skills
Ability to perform fitness testing, take blood pressure, and demonstrate safe and beneficial exercise on all types of exercise equipment.

WORK HOURS/SCHEDULE: Full Time (40 Hrs/Wk); Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with potential for extended hours

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service:
•Ensure that customers are greeted and checked in for the appropriate visit.
•Screen customers for health risks
•Provide an environment that is safe, enthusiastic and motivational
•Encourage members to participate in classes and programs.
•Demonstrate and monitor proper/safe use of equipment and exercise techniques.
•Answer client questions with answers backed by research
•Start and end sessions on time
•Clean and disinfect equipment and surfaces, as needed
•Inspect equipment for safety, initiate correction action and report repair needs
•Work with peers to ensure adequate/substitute coverage for operations, special events, classes and personal training.
•Provide CPR and/or emergency first aid, as needed.

Lead Group Exercise Classes:
•Develop exercise routines and choreograph music

Personal Training:
•Screen customers for health risks
•Administer informed consent
•Assess client personal training needs/desires
•Develop safe and beneficial exercise program to meet customer’s needs/desires
•Instruct, demonstrate and supervise proper/safe techniques for each exercise
•Administer and spot exercise routines
•Monitor client response to exercise and take necessary steps to provide for health and safety
•Provide for alternative exercises and sharing of equipment during crowded times
•Assist with equipment adjustment
•Maintain exercise documentation for each client
•Collect and log visits and payments
•Schedule personal training appointments

Operations:
•Plan, organize, and delegate activities as required for the safe, efficient and effective operation of Fitness Center
•Participate with Be Healthy and other system resources and initiatives
•Supervise, train, coach and mentor staff
•Schedule adequate staff coverage for operations, events, classes and personal training (including PTO coverage).
•Manage the approved budget and adjust strategies to meet budget expectations
•Develop, deliver and take action on customer satisfaction surveys to improve satisfaction
•Maintain records of staff CPR and other certifications
